Aug. 15th, 2020 03:47 amMy sweetie sorted out lumber and tools, and hopefully we can start building the addition tomorrow with the help of some friends.
An okay ride on River; we just walked today. He's still having a bit of difficulty breathing, and I'm going to get a vet out to look at it. It's not too bad, but I know it will be if I don't treat it, so might as well get it over with. Wonder had heaves this year too, out of nowhere. River has had issues before too, other years. I'm grateful that we can treat our animals.
I came home and made vegetarian chili that turned out pretty well, and that might be for our helpers tomorrow.
We watched "Captive State" and it was a really good movie. You had to think about it, but it sure wasn't a predictable movie.
Thursday: That my sweetie was able to donate blood today. I've always admired this about him. He's always tried to donate blood, and I know that it's important. I am not so brave. I hate needles to the point of passing out, and the whole thing would be very overwhelming for me, even though I know it would be valuable.
Today was a nice day. It was pleasantly warm and sunny. We went to the city (only place he can donate blood now, if you can imagine. Our local hospitals don't do it any more).
I got to dress up and wear my pretty new skirt and shoes that weren't for doing yard work/chores.
We went to the art gallery for the first time in months. We have an annual membership, and we've barely used it this year. It was wonderful to go somewhere pretty and clean and look at beautiful art together.
I found a beautiful book called "Lost Words", that I learned was about words the Webster's dictionary dropped from their most recent edition, and they were words about natural wonders, like "fern" and "wren" and "willow". So, the authors wrote a book intended for children, with lush illustrations, because children need to know the word "bluebell" and "adder".
We found a nice place to eat, and I had a delicious hot wrap with veggie curry in it, and my sweetie got some samosas and dal, and we ate outside.
We strolled around a lovely neighborhood full of heritage houses that were beautifully kept, with luxuriant yards, and huge old trees leaning together over the street. I would love to live in such a place one day, when we are too old to maintain the acreage.
