Aug. 26th, 2020 01:57 amThe barn owner suggested I skip today's lesson if River isn't breathing well, which is okay, but WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT THE HAY THAT'S CAUSING THIS?
I was able to roll with the day, and still do something useful with it.
The guy I've been talking to about hauling away the pile of concrete was able to stop in today, and my sweetie was home, so NO MORE EXCUSES about "maybe our friend will still do it" blah blah. We made an agreement about him hauling the concrete away, and also moving the rest of the dirt pile (my sweetie was also planning on doing this himself, with what time I don't know). He's scheduled to be here next Wednesday.
This makes me so happy. I might actually be able to access the gates that are currently blocked by concrete and dirt, and we might even get some gravel and have a proper driveway "T" again, instead of a sucking mud hole that we can't park on.
My sweetie may have been perfectly capable of doing these things, but we are OUT OF TIME. September is nearly upon us, and that is the last month before freeze up becomes a reality. My sweetie already stated that his priority right now is to have the addition standing and closed in, and that will take up whatever time he has now before it freezes. He was perfectly willing to leave the rest of the dirt and concrete until next year, in spite of all his promises to me earlier this summer that it would all be gone. I know how this goes. Things that are low priority to him this year will still be low priority next year too. I DO NOT want another summer of looking at a pile of concrete, and not being able to use the gates etc. And fighting about it the whole time.
My hay guy also called, and strongly hinted that today was a really good day for him to deliver my winter's worth of hay. It was fine for us, so he came and put it all in our barn (good thing I cleaned it out the other day). I'm really happy with the hay, it's nice, fine grass hay (almost no alphalpha, which is perfect) and not dusty at all. I love this hay guy.
I talked to my Mom, and it turns out that she doesn't really want my train wreck sister living with her this winter. I said that she'd better talk to her then, because SHE thinks she's living with my Mom this winter.
I didn't do much the rest of the day. I picked some more beans and raspberries, and that's about it.
