Today I am grateful for:

Just making it through the day with this heat! It's been 33 C here, which may not seem all that hot to some of you, but we are not used to this kind of heat, especially in June, and especially for this long.

My sweetie and I found some reflective insulated material that he'd used somewhere else, and forgot he had. We brought it in and covered all the big windows on the West side of the house, as they are the largest. Then we took plain old aluminum foil and covered all the smaller windows to the South. It was too late in the day to help us much today, but hopefully it will help us tomorrow, as it's still supposed to be hot again. At night we open up the windows and start up some fans, and cool the house as much as we can. Before I go to bed (which is almost morning still), I turn off all the fans and close the windows. Hopefully tomorrow the reflective foil will keep the house a little cooler.

I managed to clean the bathroom and wash some floors, and do my normal chores outside, and that's about it.

My sweetie went into town in the morning before I got up to pick up our lawn mower which is finally done, after about four weeks. He did a little mowing to test it and it seemed to be running well.

I went to see River, and he was managing, but this heat is hard on him. R had put him in the barn which was a little cooler, and had sponged him down to cool him off a bit. I'm really grateful that she's willing to do such nice things to keep him more comfortable (though at this point it's likely also necessary for him when it's this hot, not just nice).

I didn't do very much with him. A little bit of working on liberty (just getting him to follow), and that's it. I put more sunscreen on his poor pink nose, gave him some carrots, and hosed him down to cool him off some more.
