Sunshine.
I miss talking to my Mom. These days, she really isn't interested in talking on the phone anymore. Maybe she doesn't know who is on the other end. For some reason, her memory has really degenerated since she has been in the hospital. Maybe it was just as bad before, but she was trying harder to mask it? When I do call, she often hangs up after only a few moments. If she doesn't, then it's me doing all the talking, and I don't know how much she understands. We used to talk a lot, and I really miss it.
I went to see River, and got to ride with another person, so that was nice. I enjoy being at the barn earlier. River was relaxed and focused today, so he was bending nicely. I feel like he's doing better at staying relaxed in his transitions.
He has this funny quirk, when he's warming up when we ride. He seems to really enjoy our warm up, the same way as we would when we do some stretches. I imagine he stands around a lot in the winter, and moving around (especially when we start, and I let him stretch his neck out) gets all the blood circulating and loosens him up. You can tell when he's enjoying it because he starts to groan.
I came home, and intermittently watched the first Lord of the Rings movie (man, that thing is 3.5 hours long!) while pausing it to do laundry and vacuum and things like that. It really is a monument of a film.
The newest cat, Hans, is such a snuggly cat. He curls up on my lap just about any time I sit down. I may not have done that much with my life, but at least here's one more little creature who gets to have a warm, loving home.
