Nothing pressing, so I laid in bed, just happy to snooze.
I honestly didn't feel like doing anything strenuous, so I didn't. I did normal animal care chores.
I did take the truck to the village nearby to turn in our beverage containers for the deposit, and then got the jerry-can filled for the lawn mower.
I did talk with D from pottery for quite a while. It was fun. We were both in goofy moods.
I really wanted to go kayaking today. I mean, here we are, our warm season is about halfway in, and we have hardly done anything "summery".
I know my Sweetie was going to be tired after work, but he's always tired, so what are you going to do? I figured if I got everything ready to go, maybe he'd be willing.
So I hauled out the kayaks and blew all the spiderwebs and old leaves out of them and found the life jackets and paddles and so on, and got as far as getting my kayak onto the truck when he got home.
We did go, and I enjoyed it, even if he was probably too frustrated with his work situation to really enjoy it.
Here's the other thing, I've been after him to do something about his kayak. He bought it only a few years ago used, and he hates it. It doesn't track well, so it's a lot more energy to keep it moving forward. I've told him over and over, to just replace it with something he'll enjoy, but it just doesn't happen.
He does have a kayak kit, but I suspect it will never be built. He's already had it for YEARS, sitting in a box in the garage, the epoxy in a container somewhere, likely going bad.
He probably feels bad that he's not building it, feels bad that he spent money on a kayak that sucks, but...so what.
What he needs is a good kayak so that we can go enjoy our summer.
So, when we got back from the lake and he was thoroughly disgusted by the kayak being so difficult to steer, I showed him a kayak from buy/sell I had saved, and told him to do some looking into whether or not he thinks it would be a better choice, and he's considering it.
We both love going out on the water together, so maybe that's the most important thing, is to be equipped to enjoy the experience instead of hating his kayak, which means he's less likely to go out on it.
