Today I am grateful for:

Functioning, in spite of almost no sleep.

I knew I needed to wake earlier for our pottery thingy, so I didn't sleep.

My Sweetie also got up earlier, and was working in the basement with Dan.

So I hauled myself out of bed, still tired from also no sleep Thursday, and got to it.

I saw that TW had texted, just something about the weather. I chose not to respond.

I did do chores, though my husband said he would if I needed him to do them, got ready, and headed to town.

The pottery thingy was me teaching a class on basic throwing. I was not allowed to call it beginning throwing, as S was upset, because SHE teaches beginning throwing. Badly.

There were seven people, and though I only taught one workshop ages ago, I think I did well. I just tried to start from the beginning, with the importance of the right consistency of clay, and wedging, all the way up to getting a finished cylinder.

Then everyone got a chance to give it a go. I was able to assist here and there, and give pointers while doing my best not to hover or keep people from learning their own way. In the end, pretty much everyone had something they wanted to keep, though I hadn't emphasized keeping anything, but focusing on the experience of learning the process.

Any that didn't work still offered important information when cut in half, so you could see how the clay was thick or thin in places, and what that tells you about your throwing style.

I took the whole allotted time just to get through my demo, which surprised me. They were all willing to stay late to try it themselves, so I stayed too.

They ended up staying quite late, but I think everyone enjoyed it.

I feel like they genuinely needed this kind of instruction, and I'm glad I could offer it.

There was quite a lot of clean up, and I stayed after everyone else left to mop and make sure everything was clean.

Then I headed home.

My Sweetie showed me the work that he and Dan did today towards making frame boxes for the deep wells of the basement windows.

We painted the edges of these after eating, though there is more painting later once they are installed.

We watched "Paddington", which was a lot of fun but I was surprised that it got so dark! I haven't seen it before, but we enjoyed it.
