Sunshine today.
The ground is wet enough from all the recent rain that we felt it was a good day to burn the pile of old hay in the barn. It is anything that over the winter was a little moldy, since I won't feed that to the animals. It goes on a pile at one end that we burn when it's a good time.
My husband was able to help me get it all outside before he had to leave for work.
I am glad that there was some actual physical progress done on the addition this set of days off. I know it is easy for my husband to think that I am just "moody", but I hope he can also see how much better my mood is when we are getting something done.
I didn't need to stay right with the fire, since the ground is literally almost mud around it. I did keep checking on it.
I came in and had a nap/read for a while.
Then I went back outside and let everyone out into their pastures.
I planted some more bedding plants, and then all the tomato plants that I recently bought. Then I pulled grass from around the raspberry canes. It is nearly impossible to keep raspberry canes from filling in with grass and weeds because you can't really till around them unless you have them in perfect, wide rows. I have tons of mulch around them, and that doesn't stop the grass or weeds much, but it makes it easier to pull it out.
I learned about the town of St.Thomas, which was a Mormon settlement. It was bought up and the residents relocated when the Hoover Dam was built, because the entire town would be under water once the dam was operational.
At this time, the water behind the Hoover Dam is low enough that parts of the old town are above the water level of Lake Mead and can be explored.
