Jul. 24th, 2019 02:00 amUsing the local buy and sell for good, not for evil! I sold a large amount of ancient fortrel fabric that was in pieces that were large enough to indicate that it was "new" fabric and not ever used before. She wanted it to make camping quilts, and I am so glad she's going to use it. I've had it for a very long time, also with the intention of making quilts with it, but you know, I prefer cotton.
A kind woman from the riding barn checking on River for me. I am so busy with house things right now that I'm not going to the barn as often as I feel I should be, and it makes me feel better knowing someone else is able to keep an eye on him today. I wanted her to make sure his water was clean; there was another horse that's been standing on the concrete pad in front of the waterer, but also pooping in it. I had to clean it out a couple of days ago, but my friend says that it was clean today.
Getting lots done in the city today. My husband had to pick up his suit (for a family wedding), had to get new shoes (I insisted that he find the shoes he was planning to wear, and when he found his dress shoes, he felt that they were old and dated). I'm pleased for him that today was about updating his look a bit. He got a pair of black dress shoes, and a brown pair that will work with khakis and office pants (sometimes he works in an office). His suit for the wedding is a fairly modern cut, and the jacket would look good with jeans. We also found him two pairs of nice linen pants that will look good with shirts he already owns. This is nice, because typically if it's hot he just wears khaki cargo shorts, but he doesn't wear nice khaki shorts. He wears ones with a hundred pockets, and the tops of the pockets are always bunched up and look awful. Now, he has the option of wearing some nice linen pants when it's hot. He plans to wear them for some of the wedding rehearsal stuff.
We took three big bags of our books that we were ready to part with to the book store, and used the credit to buy our picks that day. We've been trying to be disciplined and take trade ins whenever we go to the city, and it's gone a long way to paying for new books, and it doesn't hurt that it always takes more books to earn the credit for a smaller number of new ones.
Having a meal on "vegan Tuesday" at an Indian buffet restaurant that we both enjoy. It was pretty busy, and there was something pretty nice about being in a restaurant with a fair number of people who were all likely vegetarians/vegans, or at least willing to be open-minded. Usually I'm in the minority at food places.
I'm grateful that my husband is willing to eat more or less vegetarian a lot of the time. I appreciate his consideration.
Picking up some groceries, and being fast and efficient together while still getting what we needed.
A good talk with one of my sisters, mostly to share concern for our "trainwreck" sister who has been dealing with her partner's scary health issues, and to update each other.
Getting a surprising amount done in the evening when we got home from the city. I was able to do some mowing, did chores, changed the turtle tank water, and mopped the porch. My sweetie did the cat litter, so woo hoo for getting something done even though we were gone all day.
