Today I am grateful for:

It felt nice today, with so much sun, even though it was still fairly cold in real terms.

I needed to sign up for the new Liberty organization that R wants us to join instead of the ILHA. I kind of have to, if this is the platform she wants to use. I hope it works out. There are a few things I'm uncomfortable about, mainly that EVERYTHING from designing the patterns to judging them is all done by one person, the founder. That means that if that one person forms a less than objective opinion about you/your horse, that's how things will be going forward.

I also don't know that every person out there is really going to be ready to create a group that has English classes, Western classes, obstacles, Liberty, jumping, and on and on.

Well, anyhow. Here we go. Wish me luck.

I went to the barn for our lesson today, which included filming for two patterns for this new group. We got decent videos, so here's hoping we got it reasonably right.

I'm glad the videoing went smoothly, and didn't have to try too many times to run the patterns.

I am very glad that doing remote showing is a thing these days, as it means we don't have to haul to show locations and stand around all day for our classes.

The rest of our lesson focused on riding, and tweaking my equitation in bareback/neck rope. Focus being on keeping my body sitting back, where my hands should be, and so on.

It would be nice if I could get River to collect with the neck rope, so he could do smaller circles with better comfort and control. Working on it.

My Sweetie just showed up at the barn as I was finishing up, so that was a nice surprise.

We went home and warmed up in the tub.

From Wikipedia:

Armenia is a unitary, multi-party, democratic nation-state with an ancient cultural heritage. The first Armenian state of Urartu was established in 860 BC, and by the 6th century BC it was replaced by the Satrapy of Armenia. The Kingdom of Armenia reached its height under Tigranes the Great in the 1st century BC and in the year 301 became the first state in the world to adopt Christianity as its official religion.[19][20][21][c] Armenia still recognizes the Armenian Apostolic Church, the world's oldest national church, as the country's primary religious establishment.[3][d] The ancient Armenian kingdom was split between the Byzantine and Sasanian Empires around the early 5th century. Under the Bagratuni dynasty, the Bagratid Kingdom of Armenia was restored in the 9th century before falling in 1045. Cilician Armenia, an Armenian principality and later a kingdom, was located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea between the 11th and 14th centuries.

Between the 16th and 19th centuries, the traditional Armenian homeland composed of Eastern Armenia and Western Armenia came under the rule of the Ottoman and Persian empires, repeatedly ruled by either of the two over the centuries. By the 19th century, Eastern Armenia had been conquered by the Russian Empire, while most of the western parts of the traditional Armenian homeland remained under Ottoman rule. During World War I, 1.5 million Armenians living in their ancestral lands in the Ottoman Empire were systematically exterminated in the Armenian genocide. In 1918, following the Russian Revolution, all non-Russian countries declared their independence after the Russian Empire ceased to exist, leading to the establishment of the First Republic of Armenia. By 1920, the state was incorporated into the Soviet Union. The modern Republic of Armenia became independent in 1991 during the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

When WW I broke out, tensions between the Ottoman Empire and Russia boiled over, resulting in the near destruction of the people of Armenia.

Armenia itself was not part of the second World War, though many of it's people served in the Red Army.

They are still not safe, and there are constant threats of another genocide at the hands of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan has ties with Turkey and the European Union, while Armenia has ties with Russia, so they really haven't been on good terms for a long time. There is also a territorial dispute over an area called Nagorno -Karabakh. With the current war (Russia/Ukraine), Russia is too distracted to watch out for it's allies. So, Azerbaijan is taking this opportunity to strike against Armenia, and there is great fear of a repeat of the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

Armenia is land locked, mostly mountainous with some steppes, and located between the Caspian and the Black Sea.

Though it could develop renewable resources for energy, the country so far relies on nuclear power generation.

Armenia is doing better in terms of human rights. I'm sure it isn't easy given the constant threat of total annihilation.

There is a bit of economy, from mining mostly. Lots of foreign investment and support, trying to help them rebuild (a lot of countries have a tough time after becoming independent from U.S.S.R).
