Nov. 11th, 2024 01:10 amToday I am grateful for:
A lazy start to the day. Maybe too lazy, but oh well.
The snow/frost is still there, and while not a deep layer, it is sparkly and very pretty.
We did the usual chores and such, and then went to the barn to see River. Nice that my Sweetie could come.
River had a decent cut on one of his hind legs, so I cleaned that out and put medication on it. We'll keep an eye on it. It was no longer bleeding and didn't seem to cause other discomfort, so we went ahead with the session.
He was also FILTHY, since he probably got wet last night with the slushy snowfall, and when he gets wet he rolls to dry himself off.
After brushing and washing/treating his leg, we did do our session. He had decent energy and focus once we got going.
Lots of just keeping him moving out in a forward way, going around pylons, yields.
Worked with the garrocha a bit, working out how to turn with it and so on.
More collected vs extended work.
Then we came home and since I hadn't worked with Wonder and Dandy today, we did take Wonder out of her smaller pen to walk around the horse pasture a couple of times, and we brought Roxy. It was already dark, but the snow reflects a lot of light, and there was a lovely moon. An overall nice walk.
We watched "Into The Woods", a DVD of the Broadway play with Bernadette Peters in it (she's great). It was in two parts, the first part almost felt like the best place to end, and then they had to go on in the second part to make it "less like a fairy tale", but that second half felt far too long and tedious, and I don't know why so many musicals just push their luck that way until you're like "SO MUCH SINGING, AAAGGGGHHH".
Still, it was good, the sets and acting and singing were fantastic, and there were lots of funny parts in it.
