Kinda burnt out.
Mar. 17th, 2020 11:56 pmEvery time there's an illness that hits the media, people lose their minds. H1N1, Zika, SARS, it just keeps grinding through the cycle of mindless panic every couple of years.
I'm not saying that it isn't worth taking preventative measures, and I suppose it makes sense for people to isolate for a while, but this is crazy! It's all anyone is talking about, and there are people out there who aren't even in high risk situations who are having melt downs.
In the meantime, this is Trump's best possible scenario! No one even knows or cares anymore about his impeachment trial, which seems to have just faded away. No one even remembers that he's building a wall to keep people who can legally seek asylum in the U.S. from having that access. No remembers that there are kids that were detained in his immigration ghettos that are just gone. Hundreds of kids GONE. Thousands of kids that no one can find their parents. No one remembers that Trump dismantled health care either. No one even seems to notice that he put a man in charge of dealing with the Corona pandemic who doesn't believe in vaccines. It seems like people can only think about one thing at a time, and right now that thing is toilet paper.
I worry that right now, Americans are going to stay home instead of voting. Or that they won't even care anymore. This is an important election, and it's really bothering me that everyone is just screaming their heads off about Corona.
The world is likely going to keep facing this kind of challenge now, every year or so. We live in a very connected world, and everything is going to spread globally now. I think we're going to have to get used to this, to learn how to not panic, and to keep things in perspective. The whole damn world can't fall apart every time there's a new virus.
