Tuesday, March 31
Apr. 1st, 2020 02:26 amAlthough it was quite cold here today for March, at least it was sunny. Yesterday was grey.
The sense of purpose my animals give me. If not for them in these trying times, I would likely just lie in bed all day. As it is, I get up and feed the indoor ones, then go do chores outside, and repeat at night.
I was able to ride River today. There was no one around, and that was very weird. I normally don't ride alone, but the barn owner knew I was there even if she was in the house, so that kind of counts. River was good in the arena by himself, I can recall when he really didn't like being in the arena without at least one other horse. He still felt heavy on the reins today. Moving out nicely in the trot though.
I was able to help the barn owner haul water. The waterer froze up again (this thing is not well installed, and it needs a proper electrical connection; this was hastily done badly because she tore everything up for house construction and ran out of time before winter. Hopefully this summer it will get done). She puts a tank and a submersible heater out when the waterer freezes, but it takes a lot of pails to fill it, so I helped her haul water. Lord knows I've been there.
Coming home and having a nap in the cozy chair, and having three out of a possible four kitties snuggling with me. What a comfort they are.
For painting. I've been painting a lot this winter, because the pottery studio is closed right now (and was closed all winter). It's done a lot to keep me sane.
