Apr. 14th, 2020 11:34 pmRiding River helped me relax. For about three weeks now, my default setting has been anxiety and anger, feelings of loss of control and loss of my pre-covid life, and frustration at my family for their various bullshit actions. When I ride, generally I get at least some time where I'm focusing on my body and my horse, and our ride, and that drowns out the tide of garbage for a while.
We worked on generalities, getting good rhythm in the trot, staying relaxed (and not anticipating a gait change) at a walk, transitioning from walk to canter without freaking out.
My husband went back to work today, he was home for not quite two weeks. More like ten days. At least from his accounts of the day, they are trying to keep the desks more than six feet apart, letting staff eat in the lunch room in shifts with cleaning staff in between, and apparently sending anyone with any signs of illness home (though not testing). I asked him to take his clothes off at the front entryway (that I don't use much) and hang them up (he'll wear them a few times), and take a bath before coming into the rest of the house.
He was able to get groceries on his way home, mostly just some fresh veggies and fruit. We've been able to keep our shopping down to once a week.
