That we live in Canada. My Mom has issues with blood pressure/sodium and a few times now she has called an ambulance to go to a bigger town to the hospital. I'll be honest, I'm not sure what they even do for her once she's there to stabilize her, but she often spends a day or two under supervision before they let her go home. She was there today. If we did not have the kind of health care that we do, she would likely have to seriously weigh whether or not she could afford to go to the hospital, and whether or not she could afford treatment at all. As it is, she goes to the local hospital regularly to monitor her blood pressure and medications.
Every time this happens, I wonder if this is it. Low sodium can lead to heart problems. She's 90 now.
That my family did think to let me know what was happening.
My niece is now in labor, and she did figure out a hospital and her Mom is there, which is all good, because as of about two weeks ago it didn't sound like anyone knew if she had someone to go with her, or to look after her four year old child while she delivered, or any plan at all. Her husband is working away from home, and no word as to whether or not he's coming home to be with her for the delivery. Yup, that's right.
I managed to focus and do the chores and so on, though I was worried about Mom and wanted to just curl up today, but animals need caring for no matter what.
I felt again like I have so little influence on events and circumstances around me, so I picked something to do that would make me feel like I can make one thing progress in the right direction. I worked on taking more of the roof off of the joists laying out in the horse pasture, and my sweetie helped me with that when he got home. It's one thing that I could do.
