May. 26th, 2020 04:59 amNice temperatures today.
A woman came and picked up some wood that she might use to make raised beds, we just gave it to her to get it out of the yard. We have so much salvaged wood everywhere it's kind of ridiculous.
Going to town with my sweetie, and picking up horse minerals/feed, special Jones food (cat), getting a thermometer for outside (Important in winter, though I do also have the app on the phone), getting some bedding plants, groceries, and some dvds (yes, I am one of the last of the tribe who still buy these). I am grateful we have the means to buy things, that we are able to go in the stores at all, though each store had new practices for safety, and for the physical stamina to do an errand running trip.
It does kind of bug me how often we have to go for groceries, but with my sweetie home we run out of eggs, milk, hummus, and fresh veg very quickly. If it were just me, I was only going for groceries less than once a week, more like ten days. With my husband home, it really is every four or five days.
Coming home and getting more done in the garden. We pulled the grass out of a space that's kind of gotten away on us to plant sunflowers and wildflowers. Then we got some peas and beans planted.
Watching one of the movies we got today: "Shadow", and it was pretty good.
Still feeling ambitious enough to do a bunch of cleaning. Right now I have so much work to do outside that I don't even want to begin on the house cleaning, but I don't like living in a pig sty either.
As grateful as I am to get so much done, I wouldn't mind having a lazy day once a week where I don't need to go anywhere, or do anything more than the basics. Summer for us is short, and we have to try to cram all the yard work, garden work, house building etc. into a very short period of time, and it feels pretty frantic, and you can't slow down or things like the grass or the weeds quickly get out of hand. It's just kind of impossible to create a day to relax, because we're on an acreage with animals and there's always things that need to be done to care for them, but we're also cleaning up stuff from the construction, and still doing more construction.
As always, days like this make me very grateful for being physically capable of doing all of this. It's all pretty physically demanding.
