May. 31st, 2020 02:08 amMy sweetie pitching in to get a few things done before he left for work (he works night right now, and usually has a few hours before he goes to work). We moved some heavy planters to the concrete area that will try to be my "nice area" this summer. Drained/refilled the turtle tank. Took a load of misc. useless old wood and an old window and so on to the dump. I am glad he helped me with these things, as I couldn't have moved those planters myself, and I don't want his days off to be taken up with all of these smaller tasks.
I called a business called "Haul for Hire" to see if he could give me a quote for what it would cost to remove the pile of old broken concrete (from pilings under the old trailer). He's going to come by if he's near our place and have a look at it, and give an estimate. If our friend takes too long to do this (as I suspect he will, but my husband and I and our friend need to work out what a reasonable timeline might be), and it's a reasonable price, we might go for it. I'm trying not to get too excited about this, but it would mean a lot to me to get rid of this concrete. It's an enormous pile, and it's impossible for us to move without heavy machinery.
A decent ride on River. I'm disappointed that he was still spooky at one point, but another rider came in, and we rode together in the outdoor arena, and then back indoors, and it seemed to reset River to change things up. I was happy that I could end the ride with him quiet and relaxed rather than worked up.
It was really nice to talk with this person. I like this aspect of the riding barn; beyond riding, it's a place to be social on neutral ground.
