Today I am grateful for:

That today's thunderstorm and deluge of rain held off long enough that my sweetie was able to go and do more work at our friend's house, hopefully (though I have less and less expectation of this ever actually happening) one step closer to getting our own yard cleaned up.

We got fuel at the little local gas station, and I got to meet the owner's wife. She's really nice. We're on fairly friendly terms with the owner, as he's had that gas station the whole time we've been here, and you do tend to chat with him whenever you get fuel, and he's always been nice to talk with. Isn't that something? When you think about it, we've gotten fuel there for about 12 years now, and the owner and the people that work there really are part of the fabric of our lives.

We went to the barn, fed River some extra feed, and the woman that I see often was there today with some kids, and I rode River with the kids. He was really good today, forward yet paying attention to me, and it was really nice. It was good to ride with some other people, and to be social.

River was even relaxed about me putting him in the wash bay to hose off all the built up mud on his legs, something he's usually kind of tense about. Today he seemed to enjoy getting all cleaned off, and it would be nice if he could enjoy this, because it's better for him if I can clean the mud off of his legs.

That was really about all we did today. I get up so late now because of my husband working nights that I can't accomplish much during the day anymore. Then I have all night in the house. It's been too wet lately to mow the lawn, or work in the garden, and we're not doing anything to move forward on our own house.

I have to say, in many ways, life is pretty weird right now.

Friday:

Again, my sweetie put in a good day's work at our friend's house, trying to tear down the last of the old house and clean out the basement.

I guess it was nice to go visit our friend's wife, though she barely seems interested in me.

We did go see River, and fed him extra, and I had a good ride on him. That was nice.
