Aug. 1st, 2020 04:41 amMore hot, dry weather.
We had a bad night, neither one of us could sleep (this is likely because my husband works nights, but as soon as he's home on days off, his body tries to go back to it's normal schedule, and I end up being affected too). I'm grateful that we were able to nap this afternoon.
That we still got several things out of the way in the earlier part of the day. Not because we wanted to do anything, but because this is how the world works. You do things early in the day, if you're most of the world. So, we had the telephone service guy first thing in the morning (dear lord, I hate first thing in the morning), and he was able to restore service to our landline. I know having a landline seems archaic, but for some reason, I can't get a good connection with any of my family in Manitoba (We're in Alberta) with my cell phone. So, if I use the cell phone it's all echos and cutting in and out, and multiple disconnections. I also want a land line in case my sweetie is away at work and I lose my cell phone or forget to charge it or something. For the sake of safety, I'm alone out here too much to rely on just a cell phone. Anyhow, I'm grateful we were finally able to get service again, it was awful trying to get through to the technical support, I was on hold days in a row for an hour each time. Apparently COVID means half the staff in call centers.
I was finally able to have a nice phone call with my Mom, without all the issues I was having if I used the cell phone, and I caught her in a good mood and she was alert and contributed to the conversation more than she has in weeks.
One of my friends from the barn came out to our place to pick up our dishwasher that we can't use in this house. There's just nowhere to put it in the kitchen, and we've survived this past year just fine doing them by hand in the sink, so we're giving our dishwasher to our friend's adult daughter. It's pretty much new, and I feel a twinge that we could have sold it for some real money, but at the same time it's doing a good deed for our friend's daughter. At least this makes more space in the shop for my sweetie.
There was a strange feeling about having a person that I only know in the context of the riding barn coming to our place. It was nice though, for her to meet the ponies and goats etc. It would be nice to be friends with her outside of the barn too. She's a very nice person.
After our nap, we got the bales that were on the trailer overnight put away in the barn. Man, that's a workout! We also cleaned up a bunch of old, rotten hay that was in the barn and took it to the garden and used it to mulch raspberries.
The raspberries are ripe!
We had a nice supper, with some new potatoes for my sweetie from the garden, some lettuce, peas, and chives in the salad from the garden, and some chard.
We watched another old favorite movie "The Ladies' Man". Once again, funny how you pick up on different things each time you watch a movie.
