Today I am grateful for:

Being able to take Roxy to the vet. When I was going to bed this morning (yup, that's how reversed my sleep schedule is because of my husband working nights), I went to pet Roxy, and she was coated in blood. We had just been outside, and I didn't hear any barking or anything, so she didn't get into a fight. After bathing and examining her, I determined she was bleeding from her tongue, which can be very dangerous because tongues bleed a lot. I didn't know if she cut it on something, or what, but we figured she's need stitches. There was SO MUCH BLOOD. The vet sedated her, and determined that she had somehow bit her own tongue. Badly enough to make five good holes in her tongue that matched her teeth. Our dog bit her own tongue badly enough that she lacerated it. So, he put some stitches in, and she should be fine. We made the most of that appointment to update all of her shots and such, so it didn't really cost much more than a normal appointment for a check up, for which she was due anyhow. This was at about 6 am, and I hadn't slept yet, and things were feeling very surreal. That things like this can just come out of nowhere!

My sweetie had a guy come over to take away a bunch more reclaimed lumber that we aren't going to use. I know how my husband feels; he doesn't want anything to go to waste and I agree with him. So, he often brings home lumber from building sites that would otherwise be thrown away, and from stuff we tear down. Then, if we can't use it, he gives it away usually, but it builds good will, and people usually end up sending stuff our way at some point.

It was our anniversary today. We've been married 17 years, and together for 21 years. We went to the park down the road for a walk, because we really haven't had the time to do this at all this year, and it's one of our favorite places. So, we went for a hike on one of the trails; Roxy seemed fine so she came along. It was a really nice walk, everything had dried up well after all the rain we had this summer, and there weren't even many mosquitoes.

I picked raspberries and yellow beans when we got home. The garden is doing better than I thought it would; so many things seemed stunted from the lack of heat earlier this summer. Now we're finally getting a few things maturing.

I put some pictures up from beginning the addition from yesterday with our friends.
