Oct. 13th, 2020 02:04 amA reasonably nice day.
My sweetie finally finished the shingles!
I spent some time just walking around the horse pasture with Roxy, and took a few wheel barrows of manure out of the pony/goat pen and wheeled it over to the compost pile.
We made a nice little supper, that wasn't that different from our normal fare, but we ate it using our "special occasion flatware" (a while ago we bought two full place settings of really nice flatware that were being sold from a store going out of business, they were they last two full settings. We decided these would be for Christmas, birthdays, etc.) and some nice dishes.
I'm a little sad that we don't really do much for holidays. It's worse now with COVID, because we don't have anyone to visit with. Over the summer we've seen lots of people, but stayed outside. Nothing indoors. We both grew up with big families that had big get-togethers for holidays, and now it's just small suppers, often just the two of us at home. I also don't cook super "holiday-like" meals because I'm a vegetarian, and this last year I've given up sugar/simple carbs. So, most of our meals are veggies and either quinoa or a veggie burger, maybe a lentil dish or chickpea curry. Simple food. Not exactly festive.
So, in light of everything, I'm very grateful that my husband has been working close enough to home this past couple of months that he's home a lot. I was grateful to have someone here for Thanksgiving.
