Today I am grateful for:

A short phone conversation with my Mom, and with my Trainwreck sister. My sister actually followed through with getting a female cat spayed! This is a cat she took in from a feral group this fall, there are three males that she sort of keeps too. Her usual way of doing things with animals is to really love them when they are puppies or kittens, then to hate them by the time they are adults and kick them outside to fend for themselves. We'll see how this goes. Maybe she'll keep this cat, but continue to hate it while it lives with her. Mostly, my sister just bitches about how they trash her place, how they bother her when she's trying to sleep, and she even complains when they want attention and cuddles. If you haven't figured it out yet, my sister is damaged.

A good session with R, the barn owner. We worked on very basic principles of liberty; leading the horse in such a way that you aren't pulling, but almost inviting the horse forward. Stopping correctly, so that the horse isn't in your space, and you didn't have to use pressure. Interesting stuff. I did ride for a short while after the session, just to warm up a bit.

Nice to get out for a while, and talk to other people.

Coming home and reading really good book, "The Magician" by Lev Grossman. I finished it tonight, and now I need to find the second book.
