Today I am grateful for:

Not as cold as yesterday. It's a funny Canadian thing, that after -20C (plus wind), -12C feels okay.

A short phone conversation with my Mom. As I've said, overall our calls are a lot shorter these days. I don't have a lot to talk about (which sometimes is fine, because that means things are okay), and she REALLY isn't doing much.

I was able to go see River. R has been forced to make a schedule for everyone now, but I think my riding times should work. They're all kind of late, after 7 pm mostly, but I guess that makes the most sense. This is the schedule for December, and I guess we'll all have to wait and see what January brings for restrictions, and whether or not we will be able to have lessons.

River was relaxed and calm today, which is nice. He was giving well to vertical and lateral pressure in the halter, yielded his hindquarters nicely on the ground, did well with the leading, and seemed less brace-y to pressure from the bit. He was kind of sleepy though, and it was kind of hard to get him going. Funny how the other day he was so tight and distracted, and today I could hardly keep him awake.

I wasn't too cold in the arena. I'm hoping my body has decided to crank up the heat now that the colder temperatures are here.

I came home and did pretty much nothing. I re-watched an episode of Lexx to see if it made more sense, and it really didn't, but it's so ridiculously campy that it's still fun to watch even if you have no real idea what's going on. It's all slime and brains and phallic space worms, and cool music.
