Dec. 22nd, 2020 02:46 amAnother pretty mild day for December.
I went to town for groceries/to get out of the house, and my sweetie was smart enough to let me go do it by myself today. I sometimes feel a little bit like when my sweetie comes with me, it changes from me having time to do what I want to "get the groceries and go home", when what I need is time to wander around in town.
We received some Christmas cards in the mail, which is nice.
I went to a different thrift store (the Salvation Army, which I waffle a bit on supporting. They do some good work, but I'm not always comfortable with the religious colonization aspect of their organization). The other store that I support was closed today. I found a super cute bracelet, a really nice skirt, a dress, and a couple of books.
I had a very human interaction with a person working there, which really made my day. I needed help putting on the bracelet, because my right thumb has tendon damage from a bad cut several years ago. SHE had a bit of trouble helping me...because she has nerve damage in HER thumb! We bonded over this small mutual affliction, but really it was moving to have someone help me in this Covid situation, and to have some kind of human interaction that was meaningful.
I got some groceries, and as always, I am grateful for the means to buy food. I bought a few things for Christmas, and some extra treats for my sweetie (he likes gummies, and pistachios, so they can be part of a gift of little things for him). I couldn't hide things like the egg nog and the frozen onion cake. I also got him nice whiskey, and nice rum.
A quiet evening at home afterwards. Napping and reading with kitty support.
Sunday: We went to see River, and that was nice. He was giving well vertically and laterally, and did some very nice cantering. I wasn't too cold, though my sweetie was a bit (not moving around much).
There were a bunch of tears in River's old blanket (it's kind of finished, but I keep limping it along), so I took it home to sew it up again. He does have a nice new one, but I'm kind of saving it for the colder weather. This crappy one is good enough for when it's not that cold out, and I'd rather spare the new one as much as possible.
We watched "Molly's Game", which was a pretty good movie. It's based on a true story of a woman who runs a luxury poker game, and gets accused of being involved with Russian mafia (some of the regular players). I don't know if she was the saint the movie makes her out to be (and that she claimed to be), but it was still very entertaining.
