Today I am grateful for:

My niece has been having some kind of issue with uterine bleeding (she's not comfortable talking about the details of what might be going on), to the point of having two blood transfusions. I literally only found out about her situation two days ago, but the problem has been going on for...weeks? Months? I am grateful that she is now in a hospital and is getting some kind of surgery tomorrow that will hopefully be the solution. What a freaky thing to be dealing with.

Our cat, Fatty, isn't eating today and lethargic. I had to take him to the vet after-hours because of our messed up sleep schedule. The vet ran a bunch of tests and was able to rule out kidney issues and diabetes, which is good news. It wasn't clear at all what the problem might be. Of course, it could be something quite horrible like cancer in an organ. For now, he gave Fatty some antibiotics, some anti-nausea drug (though he wasn't vomiting), and an anti-inflammatory. We'll be checking in with the clinic likely tomorrow to update them.

I'm quite worried. Not eating is very serious, and the change in his behavior was so fast. He seemed fine yesterday.

River had his teeth done today, and a kind of overall health check. The barn owner R was there with him (and her husband), and when I got home from the vet, she and I talked on the phone about the check-up. The vet felt that River's breathing was a bit labored under the sedative so didn't spend any more time than she had to on his teeth. She thinks that there is still something going on with his lungs, even though he seems okay most of the time. So, she's suggesting some herbal stuff. We'll see.

I spent the evening just reading and curled up with Fatty. My poor cat.

Kind of a scary, overwhelming kind of day.
