Today I am grateful for:

Beautiful weather for this time of year...in the afternoon.

I spoke with my eldest sister, and apparently she just had cataract surgery today. She said it seemed like everything went well. I didn't know she was having the surgery, but hopefully it helps her vision.

My niece is going back for a second procedure. The issue is embolisms in her uterus. I'm really hoping this clears things up for her, since it sounds like more drastic measures will be on the table if this procedure doesn't work. She's so very young, early 20's.

Fatty seems MUCH brighter and is eating pretty much normally now. He's only been on this steroid for one day, and it's made such a difference. I can't help but think that if he'd gotten this the first appointment, we could have skipped a whole week of suffering on his part (and weight loss/possible organ damage) and dread on my part, as well as not done several needless tests. That said, he's doing better. No telling if there is an underlying unresolved condition or not, but today he's doing better. I'll take it.

I went to see River this evening. It was only slightly windy when I left the house. When I got to the riding barn, it still seemed only a little windy. I caught River and brought him into the barn and the wind really picked up. Minutes later the power went out. I texted the barn owner, and she came out to investigate, and check on the horses still in the barn. We chatted for a few minutes to see if the power would come back on, and after maybe 15 minutes, I decided that I should just put River back out if there weren't going to be any lights for the arena, and we opened the barn door and it was a howling blizzard. We couldn't see anything.

We managed to put the horses back in the corral, but...I couldn't drive home in this storm. The barn owner and I just hung out (sitting quite far apart) in her nice loft above the barn that is kind of a lounge, and just talked for an hour with a flashlight on, until the storm settled a bit and the wind went down. I'm glad I didn't have to spend the night, but I got the feeling that it would have been okay if that's what I needed to do.

I drove home safely, and the power was out at our place too. I checked on the animals outside, and everyone was fine.

It wasn't too cold, so the house would stay warm quite a while without power. I wasn't too worried. I just curled up on the bed with my dear Fatty, who is an excellent hug-cuddling type cat, and I felt okay about everything.

The power came on after another hour.

I watched the first two episodes of "The Magicians", based on the book by the same name that I read recently. They were okay. The books are better. I think reading the books first made it possible to understand the series.

I drew a bit while watching the show.
