Mar. 21st, 2021 05:38 amOkay temperatures today, though it got colder, windy, and pretty crappy in the evening. The wind settled down after a few hours, but it was rough for a while.
Finding some DVDs at the movie store (a bit of a relic, but they get in new movies and T.V. series and because we can't get online stuff because we're too slow, it's still how I watch things). Sometimes I think it seems silly to keep buying DVDs, but you know what? I still spend less on them each month than if we got HBO and/or Netflix. Especially what with Disney splitting off, and now you'd have to have all three to see the best shows. There's also no guarantee with those platforms either, that they'll keep the movies available that you like, or more obscure titles that are still really good movies. Disney is also doing this thing with it's new movies that you have to pay something like $25 just to watch ONE MOVIE, on top of your regular subscription. Buying the DVD is a better deal. We've got quite a stockpile now of movies and series, and it's nice not to have to pay to watch a classic, and then if you don't watch anything that day, you don't feel like you're wasting your subscription. I don't pay full price often, because the store sells off it's extra rental copies fairly cheaply, and they always have big bargain bins of used movies, and I love watching movies that are GOOD movies, whether or not they are old. I feel like I can take risks on them too, if they're only a dollar or two each.
I feel like having a hard copy of something, whether it is a book, a CD, or a DVD gives you more control over what you engage in, because it isn't someone else controlling availability, and once you own a book/CD/DVD you've paid for it and that's it. You are under no other obligation or continued surveillance. You are slightly less a commodity.
I went into Winner's with no real agenda, just to enjoy the feeling of looking around, and left empty-handed while still enjoying the browsing.
I got groceries, and I'm always grateful for this.
I came home and worked on some beading. I have a TON of seed beads and such, and I don't do enough with them. I am slow to use them because to do anything besides just a boring string of beads means actually doing the work of learning some kind of pattern, and that is FUSSY work. That said, I have to use some of these beads finally.
