Apr. 16th, 2021 02:35 amReally warm temperatures and sunny skies today.
I cleaned for the family today (he seems to be leaning towards every other week, which would be fine if we just did that). The house was pretty normal, and all was well.
I went to see River, but his breathing wasn't great again (this time maybe because they had vaccinations yesterday) so we just did ground work. I was working in the outdoor arena, and there were some kids from next door hanging out at the fence watching the horses. I wanted to invite them over to say Hi to River, but I know I can't encourage them to come onto the property. I would have to ask the barn owner, and their parents, and there would maybe even be paperwork because of Covid and insurance stuff. Kind of too bad, maybe at some point. One of the kids was also really little, maybe three, and it might honestly be smarter not to let her think it was ok to come in to see the horses.
I came home and though I really wanted to nap, I went outside after eating. I let the ponies and goats out into their pasture, walked around the horse pasture a few times with Roxy because she hadn't been out much today, and I led Wonder around (she's super high strung, and I end up not doing anything with her) with us.
Then I worked with the ponies a bit, mostly just grooming them. They are both still shedding like mad, and have most of their winter hair since it IS only April, but it's been so warm lately.
Then I came inside and mostly vegged out.
Wednesday:
I spent some time clearing dead grass from around part of the yard, and pruning a couple of bushes. Just a drop in the bucket but one small part is done.
I worked with the ponies, and used the surcingle on both of them one at a time, as well as I dragged around a length of PVC hose to get them used to something similar to a driving shaft from a cart. Neither one of them was too concerned, so I tied it to their surcingle and led them (one at a time) with them dragging the hose, and they did well with it.
Tuesday:
I went to see River, and rode in the small arena with another person while they were getting their lesson. It's nice to go ride and it's still daylight, and to go home and it's still daylight.
I painted for a while.
