Today I am grateful for:

We got a fair bit of moisture in last night's slush.

It was melted today.

I felt just frustrated today, because it was a bit windy and crappy, so I decided not to go see River. The indoor arena has a fabric cover, and wind makes it snap and move, and so windy days are not great days to ride.

I was feeling overwhelmed by everything that has to be done this year, if I want to have something covering all the exposed dirt around the house. There's raking to be done, and I have no idea if what I really want is gravel around the house (I hate mowing little dinky isolated strips of grass) or what. I know we'll need some kind of walkway.

Right now there are a few big jobs like cleaning out the grass and pruning the shrubs, moving dirt to fill in low spots left from construction, and I really need to get the winter's accumulation of manure out of a corral we had our old girl Hollywood in all winter. These are pretty much straight up hard manual labor jobs, and they likely have to be done by me because my husband's work place just told him he's not getting days off now until this project is finished.

The reason I'm so worked up about it, is because at some point we'll be busy with the addition, and when my husband takes time off to work on that, I won't be working on the yard much. Plus, we really only have four or five months out of the year that are good construction/yard work months. If it isn't done by September, you likely aren't getting it done that year.

So, I shut down. It was crappy enough outside that I wasn't going to get a lot done, but still. I just went inside and tried to nap and read, while still feeling overwhelmed.

I at least got some laundry done, and managed to paint for a while.
