Jun. 12th, 2021 04:20 amA sunny day, after nearly a week of rainy weather.
A quick call to my Mom, and I'm glad they finally got a good rain. She lives in another province where they've had near drought conditions.
My sweetie helped our friends with another day of de-hoarding. Our friends already have a buyer for the house, as long as her financing goes through.
My sweetie and the guy he's been helping (to de-hoard his mom's house) brought two lawnmowers from our friend's place and mowed the lawn (and he took them home again). Hopefully our lawnmower will be repaired soon.
My sweetie and I went to a yard sale where the lady was selling her tack. It's kind of sad, because she was elderly, and likely she was preparing to sell the farm soon. She had likely only recently decided to be done driving horses, or the horses finally passed away. She had a beautiful antique cutter, a nice antique carriage, a more modern cart, and tons of harness, bridles, saddles and so on.
We got a couple of blankets, but only because my husband seemed to think we needed them in spite of me telling him that they would be too small for River and too large for Hollywood. I have no idea why he was so insistent, even though I told him they wouldn't work. The lady was saying she used the one blanket on a smaller horse (meaning it should fit our Hollywood, according to her), yet it was a 76" blanket, which is normally a bigger horse (yet too small for River, who takes an 80").
So, I went along with it, since he seemed to feel that his faith alone would make the blanket fit someone. We went to the riding barn and tried it on River, and lo and behold it was too small for him. Isn't that something? Yet, because it really is a 76", I also know our little mare at home who is much smaller than River will be swimming in it. I will really just be stuck with two blankets that don't fit anyone. My husband says "we can always sell them if they don't fit", but why do I want to be stuck with that job?
Anyhow, I had a good session with River. We worked on our groundwork in the arena, while R worked with her rescue two year old. I also worked with the two year old for a while under R's supervision, because she wants the filly to get used to being handled by different people, and to see what her reaction is to different people.
Then I rode for a little while. He seemed better on his left lead than usual.
Then we came home and watched "News of the World" which I really enjoyed.
