Jun. 29th, 2021 03:53 amI didn't have anything immediately pressing to do outside today, so I just did what I had to do to take care of the animals and spent most of it indoors. It is SO HOT now, and we've had several days of this extreme heat, which I can't ever recall us having so early in the summer. Usually if we have weather like this it's in August.
I tried calling my sister E, and got her husband again, which was great. Lately we've been having some really good conversations, and we had one of those today. It was nice to chat since I was stuck indoors anyhow.
What was nice, is that we did talk about the brother in law who just died, and about the boy who killed himself. We talked about our feelings, and it was funny that this BIL still didn't lay much blame at the feet of the one who died (he thought that the school and the system let this kid down, and he's not wrong, but P's abuse had a lot to do with the situation too), but didn't disagree with me when I talked about what I had experienced and my own fear of P. At any rate, it was nice to be open about things.
It's strange how P keeps getting let off the hook for his abuse of my nephew because people just say "P was old school, and he didn't know how to deal with a kid like C". My one thought is "maybe don't beat the shit out of your kid". It's funny how we can forgive someone for not knowing how to deal with a son with complex emotional issues, possible ADHD or something similar, even though pretty much none of us would have dealt with it by beating him up and telling him he was an idiot.
Then I did talk with my sister E later in the day when she got home.
My sweetie spent the day at his Uncle K's house (he is the one not doing very well), and his parents are staying there as well. It probably does make more sense for them to stay at Uncle K's or a hotel than with us for more reasons than just my own discomfort. That said, I am relieved that my sweetie is still able to spend time with them somewhere other than our home.
He also remembered to pick up some groceries.
Once it cooled off, we watered the new grass seeded area, the garden, weeded for a while, and took some more pictures of things my husband would like to sell.
We also took the ponies for a walk up and down the driveway a few times. A relative of our neighbor stopped to let all of her grand kids out to see the ponies and feed them handfuls of grass, and I had to be on guard because the ponies are not used to the way kids run and make noise. I told them loud and clear that these ponies might kick, and their grandma said she was a horse person, yet she wasn't all that vigilant about them running back and forth behind them. Dandy was a little excited with all the action, but Ursula really didn't care.
Then we came inside, and I did some laundry and we put up some curtains. We were using a big sheet because I couldn't lay my hands on the curtain rods from the trailer, but I made a point of finding them today, and getting out some curtains. It looks a little bit more like we're trying.
Then we watched "The Replacement Killers", a pretty old movie now. It's funny that the lead female, Mira Sorvino, really had this thing of running around with her blouse open through the entire movie. I don't mean a button undone, I mean the entire shirt open, showing a fancy bra. It was funny, because no one seemed to notice. Like, yeah, everyone dresses like this.
