Jul. 18th, 2021 01:33 amThat even though we are getting so much smoke that you can't see anything, from all of the forest fires in B.C., I am grateful it's not us, though in a way that's an ungracious thing to say. I feel awful that this is happening.
My sweetie got up pretty early to go pay back some of the sweat equity we got from our friends. Oddly enough, it wasn't for our friend, but for his neighbor. The work went quickly and smoothly and he didn't have to stay very long.
We went to a yard sale nearby. This is a lady who pretty much is a hoarder, but at least she hoards cool stuff. She has a "sale" in her yard for most of the summer, every year. She just keeps piling stuff outside in boxes and doesn't put prices on anything. I found some books and a very cool African necklace.
That at least I turned my feelings about my family into some kind of useful activity. I tidied up the dining/living room area and vacuumed the rugs, and I cleaned up the "sunroom" that mostly functions as a room full of cat litter. I can't fix my family but I can try to keep my house livable.
Then we went outside in the smoke for a while and weeded the garden.
