Jan. 14th, 2020 01:41 pmA warm home, as the temperatures plummet.
Having the internet, when I'm more or less stuck at home.
For being able to put the goats in the garage.
Having Roxy, for morale support as I go out in the cold to do chores.
A phone call with my sister (the one whose partner recently died). A male friend of hers needed a place to stay, and he's been staying with her. He would have pretty much been homeless without her, so he's very grateful, and he's not paying rent but he's helping her by doing, for lack of a better description, "man stuff". The things her partner would normally do for her. Realistically, if she didn't have someone like this helping her, she probably couldn't live there very long without great difficulty. She has to haul water in a tank on the back of the truck and then put it in her pressured tank at the house; getting that done is a pain. She has vehicles that are a little tricky to keep running. There's always something.
I know that some people are judging her, thinking that she's already replaced B, but you know what? If this guy keeps her company and helps her do stuff, and gives her a reason to get out of bed and cook supper and someone to talk to, then so what. She says he's just her friend, and likely that's all it is, and if it was more than that, who is anyone to judge them.
Doing an experimental coat of paint in the bathroom. The paint in there was peeling badly after moving the house, as the walls had some cracks, and the moisture got in there. I've been taking off the peeling paint, and I wanted to do a coat of paint to see what it would look like with all the cracks and chips. The paint I used is oil-based, and very shiny, and all of the imperfections show, but at the same time I think it will hold the chipping paint underneath well. It sure stinks though.
