May. 13th, 2021 04:21 amA beautiful warm day.
Getting more work on the hedges. I've started on the other side, and it is going a little faster than the first side, because I got a great deal of the dead branches out from the first side, now I'm just getting whatever I couldn't reach.
Time to work with the ponies. I did the usual leading with the surcingle and pole. I used another lead rope to make a "crupper" on Ursula, to get her used to that rather unusual sensation. She was a little unhappy with it, but she was okay after a few moments, once she recognized that it wasn't painful. I also did some desensitizing work with the rope around their legs, getting them to release to pressure. I also combed out Dandy's mane.
After that, I was able just to spend some time with them and the goats.
A quiet evening. I've been re-watching the BBC Sherlock Holmes series. One of the best shows I've ever watched. The quality of the writing and production is outstanding.
Tuesday:
Nice weather.
Putting in a bit of time cleaning out grass from the perennial flower bed. Things are starting to come up.
Going to see River. Now that we can only have one person at the barn at a time, my riding times are quite late in the evening. I skipped working on the obstacle course so that I could ride before it was too dark to use the outdoor arena, but I did do some leading and groundwork in the indoor arena first.
