May. 11th, 2021 04:40 amA lovely warm day, with no wind. I love these days, before the mosquitoes hatch.
We went to the dump to buy honey (the woman who works there sells it for a local producer), but they were out, so we got referred to a place fairly close by that has a little house in their yard where you just leave some money and take a tub of honey. I got a huge bucket that will likely do us for months.
It was kind of fun to drive around on the back roads where we normally don't go, and look at different farm yards.
Then we went for a walk at the park down the road. We don't get there as often as we should, because of my husband's work schedule right now. He's only gotten about five days off in the last six weeks.
He was sort of starting our day by talking about all the things we should "do" (more work around the yard) and I put my foot down and said we needed to do nice things today. We worked yesterday cleaning up the branches from the hedges.
It was really just about a perfect day to walk at the park. The rain made everything green up nicely, the trees are starting to leaf out, but the rain was a few days ago so it wasn't muddy. We saw a Spruce Grouse, right beside the trail, and lots of ducks and beavers and muskrats (this park is a trail on hills above marshland). Roxy had a great time.
I tried the harness that I bought on Ursula first, since she's a little more patient, and I knew I was going to have to fuss a lot to figure it out. I don't have it all worked out yet, but I think it does more or less fit her. She didn't seem too worried about all the straps all over her.
Then we watched "Bad Boys II" which is wonderful, cheesy fun.
