May. 10th, 2021 01:19 amA truly nice day, weather-wise. Sunny and warm, and NO WIND!
I made a super quick call to wish Mom a happy Mother's Day, (since likely she would get about ten more calls), and was happy to hear that my nephew had brought her favorite fried chicken from a local place.
My sweetie had today off, and tomorrow.
We cleaned up branches (so many branches) from me cleaning out the hedges. I still have to do the other side of the row, but it shouldn't be as bad. We just piled them up by the bush at the back of our property. In a couple of years it will be all composted.
We went to see River. The barn owner R said I needed to clean inside River's sheath (penis cover), and I did my best. Not sure if I did it right, but I'll get her advice. He was okay with me digging around in there, but he also looked a bit offended. I really didn't know you could get almost your whole hand in there.
We worked on the obstacles and groundwork, rode for a while in the outdoor but it was too soft from the rain to be useful footing so we went into the arena, which was lovely because of the sunset filtering in through the fabric covering.
We came home and talked with a friend of ours on the phone. He was a good friend the whole time we lived in Wyoming (he too was a Canadian who started working in Wyoming the same time as my husband), and lived near us in Alberta for a while too. He's been in B.C. for 6 or 7 years, and we didn't even hear from him most of that time, but in the last year we've been talking more again. We're hoping that Covid vaccines will allow him to come visit with us soon.
