Jul. 21st, 2021 02:27 amAn overcast, cool, and misty day. I am SO hoping we get some meaningful rain from this. It's a relief from all the hot and dry weather we've had.
My sweetie went to the doctor because this cut on his hand wasn't healing. The doctor said it was proud flesh, and cut out the bit that wasn't healing right. Said it was fairly common in hands. At least there was a straightforward answer.
We went to a local farmer's market, and I resisted shiny trinkets. We did get a big bag of Saskatoon berries.
Our raspberries are beginning to ripen. We ate a few today.
I went to see River, and he was WAY more comfortable in this cooler weather. His breathing was good, we actually did a fairly normal amount of work, and he wasn't dragging his feet the whole time.
One of the other people at the riding barn brought in a horse that was given to her (the owner passed away and the family didn't know what to do with him). He's almost unhandled. He is halter broke and that's about it, and 16 years old. They brought him to the barn in a trailer yesterday, and though he loaded well, he freaked out in the trailer and cut up his face. They got the vet to stitch him up, but they are going to have a really hard time getting him to be calm in a trailer again.
I'm grateful that he at least got to the barn, and that R will be working with him. Better to have someone professional work with him than someone who isn't sure what to do with a horse that's so green, but also so old and set in his ways.
I came home and we watched "A Most Wanted Man"', which is a good movie.
