Aug. 28th, 2021 02:41 amThat I didn't have anything too pressing to do today. I just can't seem to sleep a full night anymore, partly because I am still deeply messed up from my husband working nights all winter (I am such a night owl anyhow, this has pushed me to an even more extreme schedule), and lately it just seems like I don't settle into a deep sleep, and everything wakes me up. I was just tired.
My sweetie went into town to pick up more building supplies and a few other things we needed.
I spent some time with a kitty that walked into our yard yesterday. He's likely under a year old, grey tabby, and very friendly. He basically walked out of the bush at the edge of our property while I was gardening, and wanted to be petted, and followed me around while I pulled weeds. It is possible that he belongs to a neighbor, and I'll have to ask around. Odds are though, he's likely someone's barn cat (he's not neutered or anything) and it's hard to say if they will miss him.
I don't think there's much point in taking him to a shelter, because they are always FULL.
Likely he's our new cat. We already have four cats, and it is a lot of cats, but there you have it. I would rather take care of him and bring him in than just waffle on whether or not he's our responsibility and have him disappear, or see him dead on the side of the road because I couldn't commit (I see lots of cats on the road around here. Just people's barn cats that go hunting.).
My husband seems okay with it. He knows me well enough by now.
Right now he's in the tack shed, with water and a bed and a litter box. We have to figure out how we will introduce him, and whether we'll get shots first etc.
We went to see River, and got some pallets that R had (for a friend of ours who needs some) and a truck load of wood shavings/manure for the garden.
River was in good shape today, and I was happy NOT to have to work on that lunging maneuver, since we completed the video in our last lesson. We did work on our collection spirals and that went well.
I left some bracelets at the barn to see if they will work as a fundraiser for the rescue horse.
We watched "Broken City" which was pretty good.
Thursday:
A quiet day at home.
My husband continues to work on the rock siding, and got done one more side. I think it looks pretty good.
A kitty showed up looking for snuggles, so we'll see how that goes.
I pulled weeds in the garden, mainly out of the walk ways. The ground is so much looser this year, after adding a TON of pony manure compost.
We watched "Meet Dave"', a very bad, very goofy kid's movie. It was still funny in parts, and sometimes it's fun just to watch something ridiculous.
This is what the stone siding looks like.
