Today I am grateful for:


Beautiful weather.

My sweetie continuing to work on the siding.

I spent a lot of time today with the kitty in the addition, getting him and Roxy used to each other. This cat is not too happy with the dog. He doesn't freak out TOO bad, but he will go after the dog a bit and hiss and smack a bit. Oddly, it seems to be more when the dog is walking around, even at a fair distance, that the cat is concerned. If I'm sitting with the cat on my lap and the dog comes and lies down next to us, the cat is fine. I think it's more worried if the dog is moving.

By the end of the second session today, the cat seemed a lot more relaxed with Roxy (we did this yesterday too).

I did mulching among the raspberry canes today. We have a lot of big pieces of cardboard from packaging from building materials, so I laid that down in the rows, and put a deep layer of the shavings from bedding from the riding barn that we got the other day. I know there will still end up being some weeds and grass, but hopefully better? I have worked really hard in the last few years trying to get the canes in rows, and trying to till a bit in between or pull grass, though there is still lots, because our raspberries almost got choked out from grass and weeds at one point. It's also tough to pick the berries if the end up in an overgrown mess, with tons of dead canes that you can't clean out.

I also mowed for a while, the first time in over two months. We had so little rain this summer, that the grass just didn't grow, and it hasn't grown much even since the rain we had a while ago, because it's late in the year and grass doesn't grow that fast in August.

We watched "Winning Formula", a very silly movie.
