Oct. 5th, 2021 12:45 amToday I am grateful for:
Sunny weather, cooler but still nice.
I finally got Hollywood's teeth floated (horse teeth, especially as they get older, need to be filed down periodically. Their teeth keep growing through their life, and wearing down, often unevenly.) It's interesting; this new-to-me vet didn't even think her teeth were that bad for her age (the other vets said they were awful). He mainly worked on one part of her mouth where she had a tooth pulled a few years ago; the teeth underneath the gap weren't getting worn down and were creating ramps (tall points). He didn't think it was worth pulling a different tooth that has been broken for a while, because it wasn't causing her any pain. I am very glad for that, because the other vet wanted to pull it, but also wanted me to trailer her to that clinic, and on and on. A lot of stress for my old girl.
This has been weighing on me most of the summer, because I didn't WANT to trailer her in etc., because it is so hard on her now. I wasn't sure what I was going to do, and I had some issues transferring her files to this new vet, and such.
Even the process is a little scary for an old horse like Hollywood, because sedation can be hard on them, and with a horse with not great knees she could fall over (she did weave a lot, and looked like she wanted to go down).
It was such a relief to get it done and over with, that I kind of internally collapsed a bit. I did what I needed to do for chores and such, and just laid down for the rest of the afternoon.
I didn't do much else. Dishes.
I watched "Boys Don't Cry" which was based on a true story.
