Oct. 23rd, 2021 01:10 amToday I am grateful for:
My Sweetie and I went to the city for the first time in a while where we were going for fun.
We first dropped in at the bank to FINALLY sign our mortgage documents. We're glad it's done, and it will stabilize our payments. We're a little too tired from the nearly three year struggle to get it done to be jubilant.
We made it to the art museum before it closed, with about an hour to look at the displays. We saw a display of not necessarily well-known mosaic art/ists that I would have to say was more interesting than a lot of the other "emerging art" I've seen there, yet it was tucked away in the basement where there isn't much traffic.
It was neat to be in the basement, which is still a perfectly finished and elegant space. It has a small area for display that I didn't know existed (and makes me wonder what else we've missed out on), and a sales room for original art. It was interesting to find a new area in a building we've been to many times.
In another gallery with more prominent art/ists I spent some time really looking at one painting that I've seen a few times now (part of the permanent collection), and talking to the attendant (who didn't know much, but did google the painting), and really looked at it and deciphered the meaning in a way that I really wanted to do before, and somehow it fell together today. I saw it in a new way. I wonder why the museum doesn't do more to do a write up of pieces like this that explain it better, after all they own it. They did a bit about the artist, but not the painting. It would be so much more meaningful if they did.
We went to a used book store and found a few things.
Then we ate at the "Copper Branch", which is tasty vegan food, kind of convenience food, and very reasonably priced.
We went shopping for underwear for my husband in a department store, and ended up looking at toasters since the store was having a big sale. Our current toaster is a serviceable toaster, but both of us miss the very nice toaster we had a while ago that finally died. With the very good sale, this toaster was still a bit of a splurge, but we will likely enjoy it.
We went to a grocery store in the city and found the store brand cat food I've been looking for. Seems the stores of this chain out in the rural areas just aren't getting any, judging by how hard it's been for me to find it. We stocked up on that. I wonder if this is how we'll have to keep getting it?
We came home and watched "The Witcher". It's very good, but I'm having a tough time keeping the time line straight.
Thursday October 21
A fairly nice, sunny day.
I kept busy doing chores/tasks until my Sweetie came home in the evening.
We fixed up the tarp over our wood shed (one of those quonset frames), because it had slipped.
We walked around the horse pasture and I led Wonder around with us again. She seems to enjoy the attention.
We watched some of "The Witcher".
I painted for a while.
