Nov. 6th, 2021 03:07 amToday I am grateful for:
More sunny and mild weather for this time of year.
My sweetie went in to town to get HIS teeth worked on before the end of this dental coverage period to make the best use of it. He got an old filling replaced (which sounds like they re-filled a big part of his tooth) and a new smaller filling. The replacement of the old filling took a long time and sounds like it was pretty rough on him (he has a hard time keeping his jaws open that long).
I got into "getting things done mode" and did the dishes, some laundry, and set my sweetie off to do a few things that make life better (heat tape on the exterior water taps so they won't freeze, moving a tank away from the house that we used to collect water this summer, boosting the battery on the X-Terra, taking a bunch of cardboard to where we store recyclables, figuring out why a ceiling fan wouldn't go on, putting away the ladders we used this summer).
I took the cover off of the bean bag chair I bought yesterday and washed it. The cats are already very much enjoying it. At some point I will try it too, when it is available.
Then we cleaned out the pantry (this is a very old house, about 1930's) and it has an original pantry, like a little room. A while ago a can leaked all over the place. We moved everything around and cleaned it all up. Then we went one step further and put a bunch of stuff in better places and so on, and took some boxes of jars back out to the garden shed since we were done canning for the year. Now it looks nice and organized and clean.
I also put some sheets in a proper box to be stored on top of our wardrobe, instead of just stacked there, half falling off all the time.
We went to see River, and shared the arena with another rider, so that was nice and social. Her husband was there too. I did my usual groundwork/liberty, and worked on an exercise from the last lesson where I move him in a figure 8 pattern around two pylons while I stay in the same spot. It encourages him to bend and yield his shoulder away from me. I rode too, and used the tools R recommended. I can see improvement in River carrying himself better at the trot (since we've been doing something else so I quit pushing him with my legs all the time).
Then we came home and watched more Loki. I don't HATE this show, but there is little or no relationship with Loki in this series and Loki from the Marvel universe. This Loki is not really mischievous at all, and acts like a normal protagonist. He isn't using much for super powers, and isn't even godlike in the face of the technology of those he is up against. He is apparently trying to overcome his narcissism, and there's even a love story (Loki is generally into himself, not loving anyone else). I think I would like this just fine if it wasn't supposed to be Loki. The whole thing with Loki is that he's tricksy and self-serving and power-hungry, and the only time he can be a better person is when Thor convinces him. It is also pretty low budget, and the whole thing is filmed indoors with lots of generic hallways and plain rooms. "Outdoor" scenes are obvious sets/greenscreen. Even the ideas feel pretty generic, like a powerful agency controlling the time continuum (never, ever mentioned anywhere else in the movies, where people were jumping all over time and space without anyone stopping them) and blah blah blah, and lying about the origins of all the people working for it. Loki is a good guy, trying to stop this agency just because they're the bad guys. Too much Disney. I hope they don't ruin Marvel.
