Jun. 3rd, 2025 12:44 amToday I am grateful for:
A very nice day, temperature wise, though I wasn't outside much today.
I went to town for pottery and groceries.
I did get more dog and Jones (cat) food from the vet's first, so that I would not have to rush out to do that down the road. I prefer to be a little ahead on pet food.
I didn't start anything new today at pottery. I took bisqued items from the cart and put them on my shelf to await raku day. I saw that a small bowl that I had hoped would be finished, was set aside for me to fix the glaze first. One layer was just flaking off, and I know they can't fire it like that (if it dropped onto a shelf in the kiln, the shelf might be ruined). I brushed off all the flaking glaze, and dipped the bowl in something else, and it looks like it's staying on just fine.
Then, I repaired the ear on a sculpted hare I hope to fire at raku day. If it survives being bisqued it will go on to raku day.
Then I went to Winner's and found a new mattress cover for our bed, and a nice linen shirt (better quality than most at Winner's, a heavier material).
Then I got a few groceries. I didn't need much since I had done a big haul on Thursday, but it just works so well if I keep Monday as grocery day.
I am very grateful to be able to go to town and buy things for ourselves and our animals.
When my Sweetie got home, we sat down and got Sister E on the phone, and worked out together what times would be best for her to come pick me up at the airport, and to take me back. It's not super convenient for her in the first place, so I'm trying to do my best to make it work for her.
I'm shocked at how much it will cost to fly, but it's partly because I'm buying the tickets on such short notice. Yet, from the looks of things, that flight is not nearly full, so why is it more expensive for me to buy them only a few days ahead, than if I'd booked them a month ago, if the flight is still only half full?
It's kind of nuts that a flight within Canada costs that much. Going to Mexico wouldn't have cost that much.
Well, there it is.
I'm feeling pretty anxious about trying to get things done here before I have to leave again. I need to plant the rest of the garden and get the bedding plants into planters so things have some chance of survival.
The yard already needs mowing again, but I don't know if it will get done this week.
My Sweetie is not going to be able to anything above the care of the animals and himself, and I don't expect him to do more than that right now.
