Jun. 4th, 2025 10:14 pmToday I am grateful for:
More good sleep. I'm finally dreaming a bit again, and at least they aren't bad dreams.
I've been feeling kind of overwhelmed, trying to get everything done AGAIN before leaving.
Today I did dishes, made the cold quinoa salad so my husband has something to take for work lunches, as well as making him rice to eat while I'm away.
Then I changed the cat litter, and filled all the water towers for animals in the house.
I was getting texts and calls from sisters to bring pictures of Mom for the service, TODAY I'm getting those messages. The day before I fly.
I can't bring much, and...don't they have pictures too?
That bothered me a bit, because I just finished bringing some of these back with me a week ago, so I could have left them there for the service, but I guess we hadn't been thinking that far ahead.
I went outside and planted annuals in larger containers, and got most of them planted. I'm worried that the ones I didn't get planted might die this week if my husband forgets to water them; they dry out quickly in the little pots.
I also watered the garden for another hour. It feels pretty moist. What we really could use is rain.
Then I had to get fuel in the car on my way to the riding barn.
I was a tad late for my lesson, which isn't me.
River had been standing in the marsh in their pasture, so his legs were entirely covered in mud up to the knees, and I had to hose him off.
We recorded a ridden obstacle pattern today, to be used at some point for a virtual show.
I did it with just the neck rope and bareback pad, and while it wasn't super perfect, it was pretty good considering we didn't really practice it. It was just mostly similar obstacles to what we've done before.
My Sweetie popped in at the barn for a few minutes on his way home.
Then I went home, and talked with Sister E for a while. I felt irritated with her, because she went right into the whole "bring pictures" thing, though there isn't anything wrong with her saying that. It just makes me feel like one more thing I have to do tonight when I'm trying to pack.
We talked a bit about Mom, things that should be said at the service. My perspective was pretty different than hers; she was an adult when I was just a baby, and there were a lot of things I was aware of that she didn't seem to know about Mom's life.
Well, at least I gave her some food for thought.
That phone call did mean I didn't use that time to sit and talk with my Sweetie before he went to bed. He ended up going to bed while we were talking. Sigh.
This 13 hour day thing (15 hours if you include the driving) means I have had almost no time to see my husband this week, when it might have been really nice to see him and spend some time talking.
So, I still have to pack tonight.
I might not be posting for a few days again.
