Jun. 29th, 2025 01:46 amToday I am grateful for:
Good sleep.
My Sweetie did get a start on window frames down there. It does sound like it was almost entirely planning, no physical work, which is frustrating for me. So much "progress" in his mind is just thinking about things.
A nicer day than we expected. It was supposed to rain all day, but instead was a nice, moderate temperature with sunshine.
I soaked Wonder's hoof again, and put the protective boot back on. She seems to be a little more comfortable today.
We did go to the city, with no real agenda other than it being a day to enjoy ourselves. We haven't had a proper "date day" since I went home to say goodbye to Mom.
We did go to the art gallery, and there was one new exhibit that was still mostly things we've already seen, since the gallery has an extensive personal collection, and they often curate exhibits from this collection.
It's funny, we've been going to the art gallery so consistently, that we have seen so many of the pieces from their collection. Some several times.
I once again asked the gallery attendant which piece was their favorite, and got a very interesting and detailed discussion about the process that went into two items, one lithograph and one mezzotint. I didn't care much for either of them based solely on aesthetics, but I certainly appreciate the skill that went into creating them after that conversation.
Just outside the gallery was some kind of "children's festival" or something. We looked briefly, but nothing of interest to us.
We stuck our heads into a building we can never seem to get into (always closed), it's an Arts Council building, and we looked around the store that had beautiful things from local artists. For five whole minutes, before it, you know, closed.
Then we went to a "new books" book store, to find a book that I wanted a year or so ago but had forgotten about, but thought about again today. We were able to find it. It's called "The Secret Lives of Trees", and it's illustrated beautifully.
Then we walked around the parliament building grounds, as they have lovely flowers this time of year. That was very enjoyable.
Then we had supper at one of our regular places, and that was excellent as always.
Then we walked around for quite some time on one of the many lovely trails, this one that goes back and forth over the same creek.
Then my husband got ice cream from a locally owned place that actually makes their own ice cream. I had a little taste, and it's wonderful.
Then we came home, and let everyone out into their pastures. Wonder is still a bit sore, but better on her hoof.
We walked around the horse pasture, I showed my Sweetie where the little wild strawberries are, and we picked more of those weeds that make stickers until it was time to bring the animals back in.
It was lovely to just be in the pasture during "golden hour", and though we were pulling the one kind of weed, I can appreciate that because that pasture isn't being grazed much, there is getting to be a very diverse population of plants in it now.
Then we came in and watched "Black Bag", which was good.
