Aug. 7th, 2025 10:45 pmToday I am grateful for:
Getting good sleep.
Feeling productive in a non-resentful way today.
I started off having a relaxed day, then decided to get up and do something.
I addressed a pile of "nice" clothes that have been only lightly worn, so plausible to be worn again without laundering, but chose to wash them so that they COULD be put away. They've been folded on my dresser for some time now.
Washed "nice" t-shirts and such that also were lightly worn and could plausibly be worn again, as I had too many hanging on the back of the bedroom door.
I hand washed some items, delicate washed others, and hung them in the house to dry. I prefer to do so with items I actually want to last a long time.
Then I did some cleaning in the bathroom, changed the cat litter, and swept in the area around the litter.
I went outside and did chores, spent some enjoyable time combing out Dandy and Ursula's luxuriant locks, considered turning the compost pile over, but an investigation shows that the garter snakes are somewhat burrowed into a layer of grass clippings or hay (something like that) on top. They looked very cozy in there, so I'll leave it for fall probably. They go somewhere else to hibernate.
So instead I mowed.
My Sweetie came home, and I stopped mowing to have something to eat. We did dishes and put away some finished laundry.
He let the animals out, we brought them in together later.
While I was in the house with my husband and he was actually awake, I got him to help me go through a cupboard that is a bit over full. There's a lot of things in there that are not used often, but I wanted to keep. We moved them to the pantry for storage, and identified one heavy casserole type dish that we've never used to be given away.
Hopefully now we can find the items that we use most often more easily.
Then I got my Sweetie to help me move some things he had dumped on the lawn (several tree stumps, the kayaks) so that I could mow.
If he's going to dump things on the lawn, then he can come outside with me and move them. Over and over if need be.
Then I finished mowing that part of the lawn.
I also filled in the big hole by the septic tank where I dug out the power cord, since apparently filling the hole back in after he was finished wiring in a new outlet was not my husband's priority.
Then we changed the sheets together.
So, another day of fighting against entropy.
