Apr. 24th, 2019 11:16 pmA good riding lesson on River. I think having his teeth floated has made a real difference in his comfort. I know that if the teeth can't move easily over each other, it's hard for them to collect. If his mouth is in any way uncomfortable, he was likely also clenching his jaws, and any stiffness in the mouth or jaw means problems with collection and giving at the poll. Anyhow, today we did more with the leg yielding, and it was way better this week. We also worked on haunches in, which is tough, but we did it.
My riding friend was able to ride her horse today too, which is great because he had a big cut on his back, from him trying to get through the fence (?). No one knows for sure what he did to injure himself, but his wound was right where the back of the saddle sits, so she gave him some time off. He looked comfortable being ridden today, so Yay!
Socializing with people at the barn. Having this place, and the pottery studio, has made such a difference in my life as far as having a reasonably consistent social group.
Coming home and having a nap, and kitty snuggles with Fatty on the couch.
