Oct. 14th, 2021 04:00 amToday I am grateful for:
A reasonably straight forward day.
The neighbor lady I mentioned before (who likes horses) picked up dewormer for me while she was in town. It kind of threw me off, but I think she only has good intentions. It just seemed odd at first, but it IS time to deworm the horses soon, and as a fellow horse person she knows that. Anyhow, I paid her back when she dropped it off, and we had a chat outside. With Covid I guess we shouldn't visit indoors.
I had a good phone conversation with Mom (still in the hospital). She was way more alert than the last time I talked to her, and a bit more cheerful, though her lack of short term memory was still obvious. It's strange, in that she will mention that a different sister visited a few days ago, but not remember who saw her today (someone drops in just about every day). How oddly lonely it must be, to not remember that people visit and phone, though it seems like in some general sense she knows that people do visit and phone. Just not WHEN.
I talked to my Trainwreck sister briefly, and her friend/room mate seems to be pretty demanding for a guy who really isn't paying much rent. Part of their agreement was that my sister would cook him supper, and he seems to be literal about it; wants a hot meal when he walks in the door at a certain time. Apparently he's eating enough that my sister can hardly afford to buy food for him. Sounds to me like it's time to have a talk about the budget together, and what is realistic for groceries and other expenses, and about him being willing to at least heat something up himself sometimes. This is a guy who would otherwise likely be homeless, that my sister kind of needs to help with things her partner used to do since she lives out in the boonies. He does some carpentry work under the table or something like that.
I also talked to my sister E for a while, and we talked about horses mostly, which is nice for a change. Most of our recent calls have been about Mom.
I went to see River, and that was nice. We worked outside, and right when it got dark (so early now) he got a little distracted by people walking around outside at the neighboring property. I worked with him on the ground to get his mind back, and we went to the indoor and he still seemed a little distracted. R says maybe he just gets bored, and our work is so predictable that he can tune me out sometimes. So, we did some "random" work and it did bring him back quickly. Interesting.
I came home and watched "Narnia", and enjoyed it.
