gottawonderToday I am grateful for:
A sunny day, and still very moderate temperatures for October.
My sweetie and I managed to get a few pieces of drywall up on the ceiling in the addition, but we had to stop because his hand cramped up. These are the hardest pieces to get up, so at least we did something.
We went to go see River, and that was nice. We were by ourselves tonight. Overall he did well. I've been doing more work now without a lead every time I work with him.
We came home and made a big batch of banana bread for my sweetie to take with him to work.
We watched "Jojo the Rabbit" which was very good.
Saturday:
I finally sold a couple of things on buy and sell that a lot of people were interested in, but no one followed through on actually coming to get them. I had so many people interested in these two items, and they made appointments to come get them and never came, and so on, and finally they both sold.
It rained today. It was enough to actually be wet, and knock the dust out of the air. This is the first actual rain in close to two months. This has been one of the driest summers I can remember since we moved here. Most of the marshes are completely dry (It'll take a lot more than this one rain to fix that) and we hardly mowed the grass at all this year. Maybe three times? We were fortunate to get hay, and lots of people are having a hard time finding enough. At least this rain will help a bit.
R texted me and said I could come ride today (we have appointments for ride times because of Covid, and normally I wouldn't ride on Saturday) because others said they weren't coming. So, we went.
River did well, and since there was a low jump set up I worked on getting him to do it at liberty, and managed to do it after a few tries. He has jumped a bit under saddle (very low jumps), but it's a test of communication to do it from the ground without leading him over it.
R came in and worked another horse while we rode, and it was nice to visit with her.
It's nice when my sweetie comes with me to the barn, because I often end up riding alone. When he comes, he sits and reads while I work, but it's company instead of being alone.
Then we came home and watched "Freaky" which was supposed to be a scary movie where a serial killer (Vince Vaughn) and a teen-aged girl switch bodies. It was semi-scary, but funny to see Vince being a girl in a man's body. He actually did a very good job of acting, without resorting to being a parody.
