Dec. 4th, 2021 03:54 amToday I am grateful for:
My sweetie got up reasonably early, got the lift for the drywall from our friend, and with our friend's help he got the drywall up on the ceiling in what will be our bedroom. Yay!
Then we went to go see River, and that was fun. R was working other horses while I worked with River, so it was nice to see her. River did well, and we did a little better with transitions and staying relaxed.
R paid me an enormous compliment, and it made me feel good to be recognized, and also a little self-conscious because I'm not used to being noticed. She told me that she and her husband were both really appreciative of how conscientious I am at the barn. I have been the last one in the barn at night a lot this last year, R was usually already in the house for the night when I rode (now I am earlier ride times). That meant that I had to be very good about closing up all the barn and arena doors, turn all the lights off, have everything inside swept and put away, and close the gate at the end of their driveway when I left.
I guess it hadn't occurred to me what a great amount of trust that would mean for them, and I do know what it's like to lie in bed and wonder if everything was done right. When you think about it, it was quite a thing to be trusted this way.
Even now that my ride times are earlier, I still make a point of cleaning up everything I used, closing doors, and so on.
We came home and watched a bit of "The Mandelorian". I think it's good, but I have issues with it. They show people in one place, then jump to another location that is literally another planet, with zero explanation of where they are. Then there are way too many characters that just show up in the plot with zero background information. You end up not knowing who anyone is, or why they are relevant. The general IDEA is good, but it feels shallow, like there is so much action and not enough development of characters or locations. There isn't even much explanation of the main character or his guild, which is supposed to be central to the whole story.
Then I worked on writing in the Christmas cards, and addressing the envelopes.
