Jan. 11th, 2022 12:27 amToday I am grateful for:
The warmer temperatures. This massive fluctuation is not unusual. We have this almost every winter, at least once, where it goes down to -30C, and then back up to 0C. It won't stay this warm for the rest of the winter, but it's a nice break. It does mean you have to be right on top of your blanketing for horses.
I have the goats back outside in their usual pen with the ponies now.
The drywall guy came by early this morning and started working. He has already been here to assess the work, so we agreed he would just let himself into the addition (he let me know when he was coming, and the addition is still separate from the rest of the house). It messed with my sleep, but it needs to happen.
Roxy surprisingly did not freak out too much when he started working. A little woofing, not even a full bark, and I told her it was okay and she went back to bed. I think if he had come after lunch she would have been more awake and upset, but she's on my sleep schedule. I think she is also used to the concept of people showing up to do work, because last winter we had the furnace/ducting guys just letting themselves into the basement (from a big window outside) at random times to work, and she got used to that.
I got to go to town and it wasn't scary, scary cold. Only a little below freezing. I did some recreational shopping at Winner's, and then went to pottery. After pottery I got some groceries.
Pottery was nice. I trimmed some pieces that I threw just after Christmas. They were still soft enough to trim, which is nice.
I had to laugh at some of the other people at the studio. The one lady said "I hope we can avoid all the drama that we usually have about making glazes". The other lady seemed surprised that there could ever be any drama about making glazes (it can be dramatic, because we can only have a few glazes made up, and people all have their favorites that they want available). They both sniffed at the idea of people being so dramatic about everything, and making such a fuss, "they must not have anything better to think about".
Then they proceeded to bitch and complain about all the deer living in town, how dangerous they might be if they felt threatened, the lack of action on part of the city/county, what THEY think should be done about it, and then moved right into bitching and complaining about how fish and game doesn't know what they're doing because they don't issue the right kind of hunting licences for how many actual deer there are, and THEN bitched about how they also don't know what they are doing when they make laws about what fish you can keep, because if you see how many giant bass you could catch in such and such lake you'd never have a restriction on them... etc. THEN they bitched about how jerk people mess up the world for people with good common sense.
No. These women would NEVER take part in anything so petty as drama. Hahahaahaha!
Interesting thing I learned today: About how Clarence Earl Gideon made legal history by helping to create the law that makes sure everyone has access to court appointed legal counsel if they cannot afford a lawyer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarence_Earl_Gideon
